The best method we have found so far is to use a diluted solution of 3 parts water and 1 part bleach. To clean the area, make sure to thoroughly wash and scrub the surface to remove any mosquito larvae and bacteria.
This will also kill any mosquito larvae that could become airborne as they crawl over the mosquito pool. Apply another solution of 2 parts water and 1 part bleach and rub in the area after wiping to remove any remaining water- based mosquito larvae.
Water treatment, if done appropriately, will control the mosquito population. If there is no spray solution on hand, spray heavily into the pond for five to 10 minutes. After spraying, keep the area well ventilated with a dust mask.
