What are they doing down there?
This is all we find out as they chase in and finally stop to talk to a strange old man. This has the hallmarks of a movie. It's got a lot of good plot lines that don't always connect and the script has some very well used dialogue.

The main character is actually a nice young boy who I thought was a pretty likable child but that has since been revealed as a giant monster. Also the film seems to suffer from a little characterisation problem because most of the characters are just there to drive the plot forward for the film.

There is a really interesting character called Puck who seems an odd choice for a character because he doesn't really really do anything but is there just to keep the story going or for the audience to see the story unfold.

The other characters also tend to be very one dimensional and the most interesting parts of the film come from other characters that seem at every moment to have some sort of purpose for being there. The cast is pretty good and their acting is very nice even when it is a bit odd because they never play the same character over and over again but rather change in order to be interesting and funny.

One thing I would say they did well with was casting a young and female lead with the right age and attitude that was able to give the film a bit more personality but didn't totally undermine the idea that we were in a film about a young boy with extraordinary powers.

I would have to say that I was impressed by how the film was shot. The visuals were a little low budget but the director managed to build some cool special effects with some really well chosen locations.

The film had an odd choice of soundtrack although I think the soundtrack is really great. This is one of the few films to have an original soundtrack and I've been a fan of David Bowie's since he was around (he's definitely my favourite, right?) .

This is another one of those films that gives the audience a very satisfying ending and doesn't give the villain all the time and effort he needs to make himself important enough for people to care about him.
